Liverpool squad have returned home after their heartbreaking 3-1 defeat in the Champions League final to Real Madrid on Saturday
The team landed at John Lennon airport on Sunday morning just hours after the final tournament took place at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine.
Goalkeeper Loris Karius, who made two costly errors that gifted Madrid two of their three goals, was pictured hiding his face as he walked onto the airport runway.
Also spotted at the airport was Liverpool and Egyptian star Mohammed Salah, who had to be substituted in the 26 minutes of the game following a tussle with Madrid captain Sergio Ramos that saw him dislocated his shoulder.
Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a huge hint that he could be on his way out of Real Madrid right after he won his third consecutive Champions League title and 13th overall on Saturday night after beating Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev.
Speaking following the final whistle in Ukraine, Ronaldo said: 'In the coming days there will be answer about my future. It has been very nice playing for Real Madrid. In the next few days I will give an answer. Now we have to enjoy the moment. The future of any player is not important. We have made history.'
Ronaldo later rued his actions, saying: 'Perhaps I should not have said what I said. Now I prefer to wait and enjoy the victory. In a few days I will talk about my future. I did not want to take away merit for what has been done. It is something extraordinary. It's a unique moment and you have to enjoy it.'
The former Manchester United forward moved to the Bernabeu after joining in 2009 and has enjoyed a stellar career at Madrid, where he has become arguably the greatest player in the world. The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from Spain on a number of occasions in the past but has always stayed put.
President Buhari has commended wives of Governors for the various humanitarian activities they carry out in their states. He made the commendation last night when wives of state governors paid him a visit under the auspices of the Northern and Southern Governors Wives Forum at the Presidential Villa on Saturday 26th May, 2018.
President Buhari assured the governors’ wives of his support and assured them that he would canvass more moral and financial support for them.
“I appreciate the role you are playing as your work helps in pricking the conscience of the people.” He especially commended their work on the IDPs and disadvantaged children as well as the fight against drug abuse.
President Buhari also encouraged them to interface with Central Bank of Nigeria and Federal Ministry of Agriculture over new and existing opportunities that women farmers and entrepreneurs can take advantage of.
The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, speaking at the occasion, underscored the complementary role that wives of Governors play in supporting the programmes and policies of their husbands, stressing the need for the governors to encourage them. She highlighted areas where efforts are more pronounced as girl-child education, child abuse, women and youth empowerment and health promotion.
“Äs mothers of the states, wives of governors have the ears of women and youths; this is so because they run programmes that directly touch these categories of Nigerians” she said, calling on the President to support their work.
Chairperson, Northern Governors Wives Forum, and wife of the Governor of Bauchi State, Mrs. Hadiza Abubakar said apart from issues of maternal health and girl-child education, the flagship programme of the forum is prevention of substance abuse, for which they rally stakeholders to come to a holistic solution. She commended the ban on codeine-containing cough syrups, describing it as a major breakthrough.
The Forum, she stated, is advocating for the revival of moribund drug rehabilitation centers and the establishment of new ones in states that do not have them.
Chairperson, Southern Governors Wives Forum and wife of the Governor of Imo State, Mrs. Nkechi Okorocha, said their activities take a cue from the works of Mrs. Buhari’s Future Assured Programme and focuses on issues of cultism, kidnapping, child labour, baby factories and youth restiveness. She said the Forum had trained 1000 women in different skills, while 2000 school children were supported with educational materials.
Highlight of the event were presentations to the President by the two leading wives of Governors.
A CNN report on Thursday revealed claims by eight women who alleged that Morgan Freeman had either spoken to them inappropriately, 'touched' them without them wanting him to or, in one of the most severe cases, lifted up their skirts.
The actor issued an apology after the report emerged and said he never intended to make any of the women feel uncomfortable. But afterwards, as he was dumped by sponsors including Visa and as his legendary acting career was momentarily eclipsed by the scandal, he spoke out again.
All these came after Entertainment Tonight dug up old interview clips in its archives which show Morgan Freeman speaking to young female reporters in a suggestive way.
In one clip, Freeman asks ET correspondent Ashley Crossan if she is married as they sat down for an interview in 2016. 'You fool around with older guys?' Freeman asks when Crossan replies that she is unmarried. Crossan laughs but does not otherwise acknowledge the remark.
The second uncomfortable incident occurred in 2015, when ET special correspondent Janet Mockinterviewed Freeman ahead of his film Five Flights Up. 'I don't know how you all manage to do that all the time,' Freeman says as Mock sits down to begin the interview. You got a dress halfway between your knee and your hips, and you sit down right across from me and you cross your legs'.
Below are Morgan Freeman's statements on the sexual harassment claims so far,,,
'Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.'
'Morgan Freeman issued the following statement through his publicist on Friday May 25, 2018: 'I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday’s media reports. 'All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.
I admit that I am someone who feels a need to try to make women—and men—feel appreciated and at ease around me. As a part of that, I would often try to joke with and compliment women, in what I thought was a light-hearted and humorous way. Clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended. And that is why I apologized Thursday and will continue to apologize to anyone I might have upset, however unintentionally.
But I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false.'
A 21-year-old rape victim from Georgia was awarded $1 billion (£750 million) in a historic jury verdict believed to be the largest ever handed down in an American assault case.
According to court documents, Hope Cheston, was sexually assaulted by an armed security guard at an apartment complex near Atlanta while she was visiting a friend in October 2012. She was 14 at that time of the attack. The guard, Brandon Lamar Zachary, was 22.
Brandon, who worked at Pointe South Apartments in Jonesboro, was convicted of statutory rape and child molestation and sentenced to 20 years behind bars in June 2016.
But in a recent lawsuit filed by Cheston against Brandon's company, she claimed, that they never contacted her or apologized for what happened.
In her complaint, she said she had emotional distress, pain and suffering, and depression.
“Every victim has that — Well I should’ve did this, I should’ve did that, I shouldn’t have been here in the first place,’ ” Cheston said.
In an extraordinary move last week, the rape victim was awarded a life-changing $1 billion (£750 million) by jurors in Clayton County, Ga.
According to New York Post, the settlement is thought to be the largest ever handed down in an American assault case.
Speaking on the jury’s decision to award her $1 billion in damages in a lawsuit against the security company that hired her rapist, she said:
“Sexual assault is sexual assault. It’s not right, and it needs to be punished. It’s “life-changing” to know the jury understands her pain,” she said.
“For the longest, I just thought it was swept under the rug and that it no longer mattered and that it just is what it is.
But come to find out that 12 strangers feel like what I went through and my story and how I feel after six years is worth a billion dollars that is life-changing, history-making. Just beautiful news to know,” she added.

Last week, a portion of former finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala's book, ‘Fighting corruption is dangerous, the story behind the headlines’, was released online. The portion of the book shared the story of how lawmakers in the face of the dwindling oil price refused to cut down their N150 billion constituency project fund as the Ministers had cut down their salaries due to the falling economy.
Okonjo-Iweala who was finance minister from August 17, 2011 to May 29, 2015, said the lawmakers after much dialogue, agreed to cut down the budget for their projects but then infused N17 billion into the budget. She stated that the Executive had to over look this inclusion so that the budget could be passed.
“By the time we presented the budget on December 16, 2014, oil prices had fallen further to $58 per barrel. We were prepared and we knew we had to trigger the additional expenditure and revenue measures in 2015 to make the budget work. This would be tough, given that we had entered an election year. Indeed, legislators initially refused to accept any cuts to their regular N150billion budget, despite dwindling revenues. But eventually, they agreed to a 13 percent cut against a backdrop of ministers accepting a voluntary 50 percent cut to their basic salaries. In a tough session with the National Assembly’s adhoc committee on the budget (made up of chairs of the Finance Committee and Appropriation Committee of both chambers and other leaders of the National Assembly), an additional N20billion was re-introduced as election expenses for National Assembly members. We insisted the amount be dropped because it nullified the 13 percent cut made to their statutory budget, but managed to reduce the N20billion figure by only N3billion to N17billion. This became the price to pay to have the 2015 budget passed”, Okonjo-Iweala wrote.
Following the widespread criticism from Nigerians after the revelation from the book, the former Minister in a statement released this afternoon, said the content of her book was taken out of context. According to her, she never accused the lawmakers of taken bribe. Read her statement below

A social experiment saw a man intentionally dropping his wallet with $2,000 cash in it and a homeless man found it and returned it. The homeless man further surprised everyone by using his reward to buy food for other homeless people.
Waqas Shah conducted a social experiment around New York's Union Square where a number of homeless people often reside. Shah is seen on camera deliberately dropping his wallet right in front of a homeless man.
Immediately the homeless man named Jay sees the wallet, he calls after Shah to let him know he dropped his wallet.
Impressed, Shah asks Jay, "Are you homeless?" And Jay nods.
"You gave the money back to me!" Shah says in surprise.
"Giving back is what you do. I don't steal," Jay replies.
Shah them says: "Just because you gave it back to me I'll give you a gift."
He gave Jay some money, adding: "You're a great person. Thank you for giving it back to me."
After this, cameras continued to secretly film Jay to see what he does next. Jay surprised everyone further as he heads to a nearby food cart to buy three meals, which he then distributes to other homeless people in the area.
Shah tracks the man down for a final time to ask him about his incredible acts of generosity to which Jay responds simply: "Giving back is the thing to do. The more you give the more you get."
Jay then adds in tears: "I have a wife that's pregnant. Every day I cry and pray that everything will turn out fine.
Being out on the streets its very very hard."
Shah then says to him: "I love that you're spreading love. Just because you're amazing. I will give you something in return."
Shah ended up giving him more money to thank him for being kind.
The video of Shah and Jay has gone viral with over a million views across various social media platforms.
